Speak Your Faith

Book recommendation: Acts of Faith: 25th Anniversary Edition Anniversary Edition by Iyanla Vanzant

I asked God for this.

Let me show you something about intention and putting things out into the atmosphere through my testimony. Something important that I have learned about speaking your faith.

Last year I said that I wanted to be near an ocean at least once a quarter. I find that the water soothes me, it feels right for my spirit. One day I will live near a body of water. I didn’t have any plans on how to make that happen, I just said it aloud, and posted that desire several places online. If I’m being honest I did not want to say it aloud because I was afraid that then it wouldn’t happen.

Sometimes actually saying what you want, even if just to yourself, is an integral part of displaying your faith to God.

Then going beyond that and saying it to other people begins the β€œworks” required with that faith.

In this video it is January and I am standing next to the ocean I asked for. Even though coming home to the Virgin Islands for funerals is not the way I envisioned it happening, it happened none-the-less. When I was at the airport on my way I heard God say β€œDo you see me?”.

I felt it was his way of saying, even though you’re coming home for a negative reason, still take the gift that I gave you.

We have to continually practice noticing God, practice seeing Him. One way we can do that is to put our faith (hopes) into words and vocalize those words somewhere like a journal, a blog post, a social media post, or to family, or even aloud to yourself … and watch God make things happen.
