Took The Leap! – Four Years Since Working An Office Job – Now What?

Happy February 29th!

Four years ago today I wrote this short post about my last day at my part time corporate job.

At the time I didn’t spend much time on my move from Corporate America.  I had just found out about my son’s medical issues a week and a half earlier, had no clue what was ahead of me, and thought I may be back in another office job, most likely in a different industry, by the end of that year.  I also thought four years from that date I would be on or have baby number 2.

Those things did not happen.

I spent the next four months waddling my pregnant body back and forth to the hospital for tests. I was told my son would not survive and offered to “terminate” my pregnancy on multiple occasions by medical professionals.  I heard more bad news than you could imagine. In June 2012 I gave birth to my son born who spent 5 weeks in the NICU and had multiple surgeries.  We then head home with a 5 week old with open wounds that took the next 3 months to heal.

It was the hardest time of my life.

February 29, 2012 felt like I was taking a leap away from the Corporate world and into the parenting world … but now, on February 29, 2016,  I realize it was much MUCH more than that!

On February 29, 2012 I became a work-at-home mother to a son  with special needs!

It has not been an easy road.  I’ve gone on a few interviews over the years for office jobs but don’t foresee myself returning to an office anytime soon (but never say never).   I consider my jobs to be 2-fold:

  1.  I am a full-time mom and caretaker and trust me with therapy appointments, hospital visits, adaptive equipment procurement and maintenance, IEPs and general parenting it is FULL. TIME.
  2. I am also a professional blogger and vlogger (video blogger).

This year I am making intentional efforts to take my Glamazini brand and business to the next level.

The first 2 months of the year have already brought huge changes behind the scenes and I’m hopeful!   If you’re interested in supporting me check out my updated Patreon page at
