Things to Do on Your Trip to the Virgin Islands (US & British)
So I just came back from 3 weeks in the British and U.S.Virgin Islands. I pretty much went full unplugged for the first 2 weeks then reappeared on Instagram like “Boom! I’m in the Virgin Islands get into it!” LOL! Just another reason for you to follow me on Instragram.
Moving right along …
… the last time I did a holiday trip home I tossed up a couple posts about things to do when you’re traveling to the V.I. … because all of you will go one day right? Right.
Here are those posts:
- Five Things to Do During Your Trip To Tortola, B.V.I.
- Five Things to Do During Your Trip To St.Thomas, U.S.V.I.
and now I’m back with a few new things for your traveling pleasure. Get into the V.I. people! Here goes nothing…
Have homemade Italian ice cream at La Dolce Vita
Uh yeah so … I was so busy stuffing my face with fricken DELICIOUS coconut ice cream that I neglected to take a photo and had to “borrow” one from another website. Hope they’re ok with that. Antyhoo … La Dolce Vita is a must visit on any trip to Tortola British Virgin Islands! It offers an amazing variety of homemade Italian ice cream including those made with native fruits as well as soy and low fat offerings. I had coconut and some other mocha coffee-ish flavor whose name I’ve forgotten. Ironically it was my dentist cousin’s idea to go here and I was not disappointed. I couldn’t find an address, but since Road Town, Tortola is relatively small it’s easy to describe. It’s downtown on the western side of the street just before the roundabout. How’s that for island directions? LOL!
Go skating at U.P.’s Cineplex
Yes skating … as in roller skating … at a cineplex! W00t! U.P.’s Cineplex is located in the heart of Road Town, Tortola British Virgin Islands and is best known for its 5 movie theaters (with some V.I.P. rooms btw) and bowling alley, but I was surprised to learn that there is also a pool hall, party space for rental AND (to my husband’s joy) a fully stocked skating rink with an amazing view, inline and quad skates for rental, a sound board and a disco ball! Who knew?! We gathered about 10 family members one day and took over the skating rink. We had a blast and I highly recommend this as a fun and unexpected outing during your trip to Tortola. U.P.’s is located on Pickenin Road in Road Town. Check out UPsCineplex.com for more information!
Grab a piña colada at Pusser’s on Frenchman’s Cay
A cay is a small island just off the coast of another larger island. Many of them are unpopulated, but nowadays they are growing in popularity for shops, restaurants, hotels, marinas and even residences. Just off the south western coast of Tortola lies Frenchman’s Cay, home to Soper’s Hole Marina home to one of my favorites, Pusser’s Restaurants. In my previous post I told you guys about Pusser’s East and this time I’m all about the piña colada at Pusser’s on Frenchman’s Cay! Don’t get me wrong, I also ate at Pusser’s and the wings and conch were amazing (the sauce on the wings YES!), but I think I had 2 coladas? My cousin highly recommended their bar and the outdoor seating, view of the marina, and bevy of brightly painted shops and businesses were just the cherry on top (get it … ’cause they put a cherry on top of coladas? *hee*hee*.
I would love to go back to Frenchman’s Cay in general and explore. I sneaked over to the entrance of Frenchman’s Hotel and was intrigued. Check out SopersHoleMarina.com and Pussers.com for more information.
Have lunch at Pusser’s on Marina Cay
Ironically I have a photo of myself with a piña colada in my hand this Pusser’s restaurant and not the one above … but you get the point and my addiction right? LOL! I love me some Pusser’s, and I’m pretty much eating and drinking my way through all the British Virgin Islands locations. Marina Cay was next on my list. Located off the eastern coast of Tortola and accessible via a short boat ride from Trellis Bay, Marina Cay boast eight acres, a white sand beach, beautiful shallow waters, a hotel and of course, a Pusser’s Restaurant #nomnomnom.
My mom, hubby, Flickerbug and I went over one day and had lunch. I really wanted the roti but they were out, so I had a burger and, of course, a yummy colada … or two. Find out more information at Pussers.com.
and now I’m moving back over the St. Thomas United States Virgin Islands. I was only there for a total of 4 days so I just have a couple recommendations.
Eat any meal at Chef John’s Island Flavor
My husband, mom, son and I stumbled upon Chef John’s Island Flavor while looking for a place to eat in Crown Bay on St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands. We were just about to leave when we saw a lady eating and asked where she had purchased her food. We were all so happy we did! Island Flavor was one of the best meals we’ve ever had like ever ever! Ever. We all could not understand how everything on our plate tasted so good … I mean how could Chef John make corn taste better than corn tasted?!! LOL!! I’ve heard great things about the drinks and really loved my … you guessed it … piña colada! #yum. With an up-close view of the cruise ship dock and serene waters of Crown Bay this spot can’t be beat. I’ll be back on my my next trip to St. Thomas I cannot stress how much I recommend you going there too. Follow Chef John’s Island Flavor Restaurant on Facebook for more information.
Bonus {because you can do this right now!}

St. Thomas is really beautiful. Unfortunately I was only there for the day while cruising. But I do remember walking from where the ships docked all the way downtown where there were a lot of shops. It was gorgeous and I would definitely like to go back.

I’m always shocked when people tell me they walked from Havensight to downtown O_O … in that hot sun LOL! I mean I understand the walk by the water if probably breathtaking and all, but I guess since I’m from there that seems like a looooooong hot walk. You should definitely go back. Stay at Sugar Bay, Frenchman’s Reef, or Morning Star and chill.
