First time in Scooot Mobility Rider by Firefly
Hi y’all!

I had no intention of vlogging this day, but I’m so happy that I did! Turns out the Scooot Mobility Rider by Firefly the we ordered arrived in the mail and now you get to see Zion use it for the very first time!

What’s a Scooot you ask?

According to the website, it’s a “3-in-1 (or 2-in-1 depending on which you order) mobility rider for little explorers”.  In layman terms, it’s a cute little “wheelchair” that configures into different setups depending on your special child’s needs!

The “Crawl” configuration (pictured on the left above) allows your child to roll around on their tummy. There are 3 castor wheels underneath so the turn radius is tight and they can easily and smoothly spin 360 degrees.  Ironically we tried a homemade version of this for my son a couple years ago (no 360 turning, just forward and backwards).  It really helps strengthen your child’s upper body and allows them to get around more easily.

The “Scoot” configuration, a.k.a. the 2-in-1, lets your child sit and push themselves around using their feet.  There’s a rainbow-colored seatbelt and a backrest for added support.

The “Rider” configuration, a.k.a. the 3-in-1, is what we got for Zion!

This configuration allows him to move around using wheels on each side just like his wheelchair!  The wheels are made of rubber so they are easy to grip for his fat little man hands.  He’s unable to use his legs the footrest gives them a place to go while he rolls around.  Firefly also offers advanced backrest option for additional support (wraparound red torso support pictured on right above), but we did not purchase it (although I suspect Zion does need it).

He uses a wheelchair 4-5 times a week so he took to the Scooot in the Rider configuration immediately (as you will see in the video below).

We’ve had it for just over a week and we are IN LOVE!

The Scooot has changed how Zion interacts with our home and brought me to tears on more than one occasion.  I continued to be overwhelmed by Zion’s newfound independence.  He can get around much more quickly than army crawling on his tummy and he can reach things he never could as well as play eye level with other kids!  We were never able to let him use the deck on his own and explore and now he can, which he LOVES and has done every single day since we got the Scooot.

Like I said, I just happened to shoot a vlog video the day the Scooot arrived so watch the video below to see Zion in it for the first time live!  ❤️

We have zero complaints after 1 week. I’ll update this post if any concerns arise but until then I highly recommend the Scooot if your child has limited mobility, it’s AMAZING!

Our children are so fearless.I understand the joy you are feeling. My son is soooo close to tying his shoes I can feel it. He is hoping that he will do it before his 10th birthday in August. I am cheering him on!
