Entropy • A Review of May 2012

Entropy
May 2012 = Entropy

I‘m kinda a nerd.

Well, at least I attended a nerdy university surrounded by a buncha smartie pants. The word “entropy” is actually a thermodynamics term referencing the quantity of heat absorbed or emitted divided by the temperature a.ka. “heat death”  … but that’s not what I mean.

I’ve been doing monthly reviews inspired by HappyBlackWoman.com.  If you missed March you can read it here, and if you missed April you can read it here.  In April’s post I predicted that I would use the word “growth” to describe this month, and I honestly could have, but I feel that the growth I’ve experienced is better summarized as part of an over arching umbrella of ENTROPY.

en·tro·py

[en-truh-pee]]
noun
lack of pattern or organization – measure of the disorder of a system “The committee meeting did nothing but increase the entropy.”

Basically it means deterioration into chaos … reversible though so there’s hope LOL!  I chose that word because May has been all. over. the. place.  I really am like “where did the month go, what just happened to me?”.  I’m 35+ weeks preganant, have had some rollercoaster rides back here I can’t even tell ya’ll, and know the chaos is just beginning because soon I’ll have a newborn.  Don’t get me wrong, lots of great stuff has happened too but *whew* what a ride through my birthday month it’s been! What have I done?

  • I shaved the side of my hair for my birthday, then shaved the other side later in the month, knocking something clear off my bucket list.
  • I successfully started using my Toodledo list to help govern what gets done during my day.
  • I implemented  my revamped advertising strategy.  If you’re interested in advertising on this blog click here.
  • I’m helping someone set up their blog {purposely vague ’cause I’m not sure they want it all out there yet}. I signed them up for WordPress, and set up their email account. I have more to do but good start.
  • I turned 36 and celebrated with loved ones.
  • I successfully carried my son until week 35, which I feel is an accomplishment that needs to be mentioned *takes a bow*
  • I guest posted on HousefulofNicholes.com and TheManeSource.com.
  • I did my first ever Glam Author post for Ambi Skincare, which you can read here.
  • I had a guest author post on this blog here, and continue to receive submissions.
  • After MUCH turmoil with Sprint and FOUR replacement phones {don’t remember how many batteries}, I seem to have a phone/battery combination that works.  #prayPeople.
  • I started a micro-interview series called Natural Nuances.  If you’d like to be featured contact me.
  • I’m still meal planning and cooking but honestly could have done better this month.
  • I’ve worked on several small design projects, even more than I thought I would last month.
  • I’m inquiring about a paid blogger position with another site.
  • I had a better month income-wise than expected.
  • I continue to pray and read my Bible every night (with hubby).
So where does the entropic chaos come in?  Well, life’s been happening back here too and I just feel like everything’s caving in on me as baby gets ready to make his debut. I realize this may be a typical feeling so I won’t complain, but boy oh boy it’s like the more I do the more I realize has to be done … and ultimately I know I’m not gonna get it all done {especially ’cause I’m waddle walking and out of breath most of the time LOL}.    In the end I’ll say May was a month of growth, physical,  financial, opportunities etc. AND also a month of perceived entropy on my end.
June 2012 will be some kinda month huh?  Little dude may show up this month … THIS MONTH! O_O *faint*get up*faint again*  I’m honestly not even sure what word to predict for the month of June.  Just stay tuned and see what happens *nervous*.

What word describes your May 2012? What do you want describe June 2012?

Honey, you are accomplishing alot being in your ‘state’. I lift my hat to you. I am really looking forward to meeting the little one 🙂

Another science nerd, loved this post. Entropy also describes my current situation. Hang in there….and remember this too shall pass…

    Wait…what?!?!
“I successfully carried my son until week 35, which I feel is an accomplishment that needs to be mentioned *takes a bow*” I know that reading is fundamental, and on the 30th of May you said you were 35 weeks. So does that mean he is here now? Or does that simply mean you made the 35 week milestone? The word “until” through me off….whew chile!

    Hi,

Oh my goodness you should be given a nice pat on the back for getting so much accomplished especially when your pregnant as most ladies know that fatigue can be a huge thing to deal with when your pregnant so my hat is off to you!

I’ve been reading your posts but it will take me awhile to get through all of them but I wouldn’t miss them for the world now after reading just a couple.

    Great reading!

I really love reading your blog. There is something that catches my attention every time I come on here. I think it must be a great time of year to reflect and start some new resolutions as that’s what I’ve just been doing in my latest blog post too. I’ve not been praying much since having my baby so that was one my my new habits too, to read the bible and pray every morning even just for 5 minutes while I’m feeding.
That’s so exciting that you are very close to having your newborn baby. Having my first baby 10 months ago was the best thing that ever happened to me and it just gets better every month. But the first 2 weeks was very hard, the breastfeeding was the hardest thing I ever did as I got every problem I could have got, but I got through it all even though I wanted to quit. Now that I’ve started blogging myself the best product I could recommend to you as a blogger would be a ‘My Brest Friend Breastfeeding Pillow’ and a laptop table. That’s how I get all my blogging done as my baby is still a very slow feeder. She loves the pillow, is so comfortable and it frees up both of my hands so I can use my computer on the table I bring up to the sofa. When she stops breastfeeding I don’t know how I’ll get any work done!

      Hi Katherine,

It’s funny you recommend that pillow because I had it on my registry, didn’t get it, then went this weekend to buy items for Flickerbug and decided to wait to get it. I may just have to bite the bullet and get it. I’m gonna call my hospital in a sec to make sure I understand how the lactation consultants are assigned. I can’t believe everything is happening but I’m excited {and nervous but excited}.

      Thanks for commenting!

That’s great you already had it on your list. That pillow is the single most used baby item I bought. Most baby items only last a few months and you have to replace them with something else, but this pillow has been used from birth to almost 11 months a minimum of 3 hours per day! I actually bought mine second hand on ebay so it was very reasonably priced but for the amount of use I got out of it, I’d buy it new next time. I put a muslin over the top to protect it as it’s a bit of a hassle if you have to keep washing the cushion cover when you need to be using it all the time.

I hope your birth goes really smoothly, and you settle into motherhood well.

ggrrrrr….help me Ini. I’ve been googling that cartoon for the past 30mins trying to figure out the last two lines 🙁
