Christmas In The British Virgin Islands
I‘m in Tortola, British Virgin Islands … been here since before Christmas visiting family and relaxing.
Unfortunately my internet access is limited … therefore a. I tried to upload a video the other day, checked today and it did not upload #fail and b. I may be sparse on my blog posts for the upcoming week, but I’ll do my best (I’m running the streets with family LOL).
Anyhoo … I’m on my way to see my cousin’s house, so I thought I’d put up a few pictures of my trip so far.
Enjoy!

No ma’am! I don’t know what alien fruit is…I’m almost scared to ask…What is it?
glamazini
LOL, it’s a sugar apple 🙂
GinaGyal
Sugar Apple? a.k.a. soursop?
glamazini
Sugar apple (which I don’t much care for). I wish it was a soursop #nomnomnom
MissGina
Yeah, I still remember it. I can’t remember what soursop looks like now. I thought they were the same thing but just called something different depending on the island. I just asked my Dad and he said they call it sweetsop in Grenada. I was close on its “other” name lol. Islands food is so good. Now my mouth is watering.

Ooh lovely view of the water there. I Need to start planning a trip too! 😉
Has the climate caused you to make changes to your hair routine?
glamazini
Not really. My hair is in box braids so it’s pretty much the same as it was when I got here, except a tad more shrunken.

Good old West End. I can feel the breeze in that first pic. If you pass by Cappoon’s Bay or get up to Huntums Ghut give the peeps there a hail for me. Happy New Year.
glamazini
Will do 😀

Squeeeee!! You in Tola?! If you’re ever in Town passing by the admin building, come say hi. I always used to think a green Christmas would be awesome until i moved back home and had to stay here after Christmas. bahh. LoL. Did any of the carolers come by where you live? Did you get any peasoup? boil fish and provision in mayonnaise sauce? Visit any of the sister islands? get a johnny cake from stone’s?? LoL I can’t believe you’re in the land!
anyway, back to my gaspation at you prefering a soursop over a sugar apple. Woman you mad?! I don’t think i’ve seen a red sugar apple before tho. Also are you familiar with boiled sugar apples? it seems some of the not so younger folks are accustomed to it, but i’m just like o_O
I hope you enjoy your time here! 🙂
glamazini
LOL, I been in town in the admin building parking lot HA! Yes we had several carolers at my cousin’s house next door (he’s a senator). No peasoup (I don’t like it) or boil fish and provision (same thing … mommy says I’m not a VIlander #hater). Did Jost Van Dyke and St. John, going to Scrub Island tomorrow, then back to St. Thomas. Had pate and johnny cake from Crandalls by Fort Burt until I was blue in the face.
Soursop is better than sugar apple 😐
I don’t like boiled apple either LOL …and YES I was born and raised in the VI.

In Jamaica, we call that a ‘sweetsop’. It’s like a strange version of a custard apple (which is not even an ‘apple’ at all).
I find it all rather confusing, so I am content to just eat. 😉
glamazini
We call them sugar apples 🙂

I seem to find the happiness I seek, when I’m near the ocean with sand under my feet :D.
