I Miss Sweet Adelines
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
– sung at the end of every Sweet Adelines practice
I used to sing in a barbershop chorus.
ย Well, I actually sang in two barbershop choruses: The St. Louis Harmony Chorus and Tallahassee’s Southern Blendย (at least I think this is the right chapter, my memory is failing me #womp). Both of these choruses are chapters of Sweet Adelines International.
Sweet Adelines International is a highly respected worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performance. This independent, nonprofit music education association is one of the world’s largest singing organizations for women.

ย I have always been a lover of “old music” (choruses, show tunes and the like).ย Needless to say, I don’t find too many people “like me” who share the love but that didn’t stop me from finding and joining the Sweet Adelines organization way over a decade ago and signing up.ย
I. LVED. IT.ย ย ย
I think in 2012 I’m gonna rejoin and start singing again.ย I think it’s part of going back to my authentic me, no matter what others think (althought I stopped because I moved).ย Maybe now that I’m 35 (will be 36 in May) I’ll fit in better than when I was in my early 20s … maybe not LOL … but who cares.
Keep singing ya’ll.
Until next time Glam Fam I wish you
